Trip to Turkey 🇹🇷

Good evening Pumpkins.

10/05/2017. I didn't originally intend to go anywhere, i was just sitting chilling until i got a call from my sister proposing to go to Turkey. That's basically how it was planned and actually not really planned from my side. It was mostly a Business trip for my sister's project.

And so we went on our trip. Once there we decided to do like locals so instead of getting a cab for at least 40$ we took the Metro after getting directions from the map, we also had an Istanbul Kart, which is a transportation card. The hotel we booked in was in Istiklal Street at Takşim, first of all, the price is really affordable, 300$ one week, my sister and i and breakfast included, Second thing, Istiklal Street is a really active place, basically people are out there all day so for girls only that's perfect if they're afraid of staying out a bit late. There you find street perfomers, you find restaurant, fast foods, clothing shops, books store, cafés, basically everything. Third thing, right next to the Hotel there is a small currency exchange office so no need to worry about that beforehand and you can also pay the hotel fee with whatever currency you have available.

(From the hotel room's balcony. Yes, Burger King was just in front of the hotel.)

(Baklava we got from a sweets shop right next to the hotel. They sell tea and coffee as well.)

First things first, as i mentioned before it was mainly a business trip so naturally we started with that. My sister manages a Baby Shower shop so we went to a place called "Åžarkhan" which is kind of a mall for baby shower souvenirs, engagements and weddings accessories, bohemian shops, home decor shops, etc.. These are some of the things i got from there:

Got this Lighter for my Boyfriend
Cutest mug i've owned in my whole life
This notebook has really beautiful brown wooden like paper. And the steampunky necklace
This beautiful dream catcher.

Next we went to see the Grand Bazaar which is basically A Traditionnal Souk with a lot of jewelry shops, clothing shops, small banks that sell gold nuggets, leather shops, etc.. We then got to see the "Mısır Çarsısı" which is an Egyptian spices bazaar and which is also a great way to remember how to get to "Åžarkhan". These three places are situated in "Eminönü", we looked around the whole place and oh my god, that's what dreams are made of. There a lot of wedding fabric shops, lace shops, toys shops, Hijabi shops which they call it "Tesettür" they sell dream like dresses, there are blankets and carpets shops, shops only for beautiful beaded and embroided bath towels and table clothes and OMG! Girls if you're planning to get married you need to go there!

Typical Turkish bed linen

Moving on! We next got to see the monuments including "Topkapi Sarayi" which is Sultan Suleiman's Palace, "Hagia Sophia museum" which once was a church then became a mosque and now a museum, "Sultanahmet Camii" also called "Blue Mosque" which was built between 1606 and 1616 when Ahmed the 1st was the Ottoman's Sultan, "Süleymaniye Camii" which was built for Sultan Suleyman and also where he and his wife Hürrem are burried.  We also got to do a Bosphorus cruise tour where you can admire both European and asian sides of Istanbul.

I HAD to have this notebook/agenda

Next, we got the chance to go to an Outlet mall were clothes, accessories and shoes were two to three times cheaper than their original price. We also visited a mall in the Asian side but lemme just tell you this, if you decide to go there, you better have at least 1000$ of spare money, that side of the city isn't for the poor like me lol. Since Istiklal Street was always festive, everyday we took a walk there at around 6:30 pm or 7:00 pm, we watched performers, we had dinner there, the Kebab is reaaally tasty (obviously) but like just the kebab tho lol they have "Ayran" which is salted buttermilk but i didn't really like it, we also shopped there and i cried about the beautiful book shops because if you're a book lover, notebooks, pens, globes etc.. there are crap tons of boutiques there and it really is a wonderland.

17/05/2017, the day we had to return home, the plane was in the afternoon so we still got time to make a last walk in Istiklal Street and said Goodbyes to the Hotel workers who were really kind and lovely people. We, as we did before, took the Metro and back home. All in all it was an amazing trip, definitly was sad to leave and will i ever return there? Most Definitly!

I'm really sorry i couldn't show you all the great things i took pictures of, got a lag on my phone and lost some of them but at least i could share with you some of those left

Lovely Night ♡
